The Value Of Second Chances - Returning To The UK

Three months later, the owners from Prismix bought me a one-way plane ticket to London. Prior to my departure, I visited the immigration office in Poland and declared my passport lost in order to receive a new one without the troublesome stamp in it. I was taking no chances and had learned my lesson from past experiences. This second chance to work in the UK held the promise and feel of success. The vast step up in the mode of transportation certainly reflected possibility.

Because I had taken the time to prepare and was more sure-footed in my abilities, I was optimistic that everything would unfold without any trouble. At Heathrow airport, I was curious to see if my immigration situation had changed since the last refusal. I assumed my information was stored in their computer so I took a chance and bravely showed them the old passport with the rejection notification in it. “Welcome to the UK, Mr. Ziolkowski.” I heard from the officer.
